The AOP Photographers Awards are considered the ultimate accolade for the UK’s commercial photographers, as well as a celebration of extraordinary work by the industry as whole. For our latest installation here at Sunbeam Studios, our walls have been decked with some highlights from the recent awards, held originally in October. Marking our third year of celebrating the awards with the AOP, we are very excited to continue our collaboration and feature work from some of the UK’s most exciting talent.
Check out this awesome Octonauts Under The Sea Party created and designed by NOTORiOUS KiDS in our Main Hall and Talbot Hall. They styled the party making the most of our wonderful white spaces with super cool interactive projection transforming the space into an interactive underwater scene.
They also used the Talbot Hall for the children’s dining area and continued the theming with bespoke table decoration and a beautiful balloon arch framing the cake.
“Henry had the time of his life and everyone who attended were utterly thrilled with the party you and your team created. It was a delight to work with you and the final product was magnificent – thank you!” Client
Take a look at this elegant wedding celebration hosted at our beautiful Sunbeam Studios. Congratulations Victoria and William! Big thank you to London Bride and Peachey Photography for an amazing article!
Following on from the success of his book “Portraits”, a 20 year retrospective of his celebrity portraiture that features the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Sting, Bruce Willis and Kylie Minogue, Uli Weber has now turned his lens to the magic of the Goodwood Revival.
The Goodwood Revival Exhibition private view fundraiser was held in Sunbeam Studio’s grand Talbot Hall, a magical step back in time, as seen through a selection of images from Uli’s book. This show was in aid of Second Chance, a charity offering help to children from disadvantaged backgrounds or with histories of abuse with all profits stemming from the show going to the charity.
Every year Goodwood stages a highly competitive race meeting featuring the kind of cars and motorcycles that would have been at this historic circuit during the period of 1948-1966. It offers visitors the opportunity to leave the “modern world” behind and see motor sport luminaries such as Sir Stirling Moss, Nick Mason, John Surtees, Jean Alesi and Sir Jackie Stewart racing.
Sunbeam was proud to host such a beautiful and appropriate show, bringing cars back into this former car showroom.
‘Thank you Sunbeam Studios for allowing us to exhibit in such a spectacular space, Ladbroke Hall being one of the fist purpose built car factories in Britain.’ Uli Weber
The exhibition continues in our reception gallery until the end of March
We were immensely proud to host recently a reception for the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The evening focused on the charity’s excellent work with children and young people, which helps them to build their skills, confidence and aspirations.
We were pleased to host recently a reception for the excellent K&C Foundation, a very worthwhile organisation that helps small local charities that might otherwise be overlooked to get funding and really make a difference to the borough’s residents. All too often the bigger national or international charities get people’s attention, so this was a great opportunity to refocus on our local community and its needs.
‘Thank you so much for all your help and support last night. We are really pleased with how the event went and can’t think of a better venue. Everyone absolutely loved the space and were so surprised by what they found inside. It was a brilliant opportunity for us to get our supporters together with some of the charities that we help….Please pass on our thanks to the rest of your team who were all so helpful and friendly. I think you run a very impressive organisation.’
Having your wedding at Sunbeam Studios is choosing to be in an historic building with a rich and exciting history.
Why not submerge yourself further into that history by arriving at your wedding in a unique classic car that was built at the very venue you are getting married in.
As the former Sunbeam-Talbot automobile works we can arrange the hire of two original Talbot cars manufactured here in the 1930’s for your big day. The car pictured here, a 1934 Talbot saloon has been completely restored including the finest burgundy-coloured Connolly leather and Wilton carpeting returning the car to its original standard of exceptional British luxury and comfort. Contact our events team to find out more.
‘Thank you SO much. We couldn’t have done it all without you, and thanks for making the night run so smoothly. I hope you enjoyed the day and night as much as we did! No one could believe how amazing the venue looked, we were so so happy with it. A big triumph!”
A dozen pre-war Talbot motor cars with a combined age of over 1000 years returned home on Sunday 8th September to where they were made; our building, Ladbroke Hall.
Our building was the first purpose built car factory and showroom in the UK, opening its doors in 1903 and impressively this year we celebrated the centenary of the 100 miles in 1 hour World Record, set in 1913 by a car built right here at Sunbeam’s Ladbroke Hall. Through this achievement the driver Percy Lambert became the fastest man ever over this distance – on land, sea, or air, for which he earned the status of celebrity and national hero.
With people like Winston Churchill using the building as his experimental warfare establishment in WW1, the famous Kings visit in 1918, and the long line of motoring heroes such as Percy Lambert’s achievements, our building’s history has certainly set a high bar for us to aim for.
“Thanks so much for all your help, both in the run-up to the wedding and on the day itself. We both had an absolutely wonderful day, and have had lots of letters from our guests saying how much they enjoyed the evening, and how beautiful the studios looked!”
We were proud to host Stella’s fabulous flash mob rehearsals in our Suite A last week ahead of the real thing which kicked off London Fashion Week this season. Forget dreary old conventional catwalk, this was surround-fashion: Yasmin Le Bon and Amber Valetta dancing on tables and chairs, Shalom Harlow throwing diva-like shapes.
Stella’s first London show in sixteen years was definitely a star-studded night to remember. “This is London,” said McCartney. “I wanted to do something bold.”
Sunbeam Studios was proud to have hosted the ultimate kids party for the Stella McCartney SS12 collection launch. Stella and her friends celebrated in style with their children who enjoyed pony rides, a helter skelter, scalextric, & a photobooth minicab.
Sunbeam Studios proudly presents the first in a series of intimate gallery shows at the studios in North Kensington. On the 1st of September 2011, Sunbeam launched a retrospective selection of Centrefold Magazine going back to the inception of the magazine in 2003 as well as including prints from the newest, yet unreleased, edition.
The private view went without a hitch last week! Despite the torrential downpours, we had a great turnout and now we have some fantastic work on our walls. Check out the video below of every Centrefold edition – on the night we projected a giant version over our cove in studio one. Thanks to everyone that came, look out for the next Sunbeam Show!
“Many thanks for helping us with all the wedding planning and making sure everything went so well on the day. We had a great day from start to finish and I know that between you and Emily there must be a lot of hard work to make that all happen.”
Delegates arrived in to Talbot Hall for some much needed coffee before moving in to Main Hall for a morning presentation, but as the delegates were about to find out this was no ordinary conference. The afternoon session in Rootes Hall made fantastic use of the space, the Bird’s Eye staff were set a ‘Ready Steady Cook’ style challenge under the watchful eye of celebrity chef John Torode. Whilst judging the delegate’s efforts Chef Torode commented that one of the dishes was the best soup he’d ever tasted, not bad for an afternoon’s work!
To celebrate the release of the Glee Season 1 DVD boxset, Pringles and Fox teamed up to bring a day of Glee mania to 100 competition winners. Sunbeam’s Main Hall was transformed into a high school auditorium, the competition winners were spoilt with singing and dancing lessons as well as American themed food courtesy of Purple Grape. The gleeks got to dress up in lots of fun costumes and at the end of the day Eliza Doolittle hosted the final performances by the gleeks who got to relive their favourite scenes on their very own Glee stage. Everyone went home with glee bags crammed full of goodies and a big smile on their gleek faces.
Held in association with ISES Talks we were able to launch our brand new Studios One and Four to the event industry. At Sunbeam we are dedicated to operating in a sustainable fashion. Therefore our goal for the evening was to inspire our peers in the event industry to make a change and think about the impact our choices make. We were very grateful to Duncan Goose, founder of The One Foundation, who came along to talk about his amazing story which certainly inspired all of us.
Many of our partners contributed to the evening in their own special ecological way. To add a little fun to our task of finding sustainable energy sources, Magnificent Revolution brought along their bicycle powered generators which provided the energy to our sound system. Needless to say the evening was well received and demonstrated how doing the right thing is achievable and very exciting!
Nina Ricci’s release of their new perfume was marked with an elegant and sophisticated product launch at Sunbeam Studios in collaboration with Velvet Living. Guests arrived for a canapé and drinks reception in Talbot Hall and moved into our Main Hall for a presentation by a Nina Ricci representative. Guests were then invited into our brand new Rootes Hall for a special performance set to a backdrop of Nina Ricci trademark red apples and a red forest setting. As the first event to take place in the new studio this was a very elegant start to what we’re sure will be an exciting event filled-year in our new space.
“I just wanted to say thank you very much for all your help with the event on Wednesday night. It really couldn’t have gone any better and our clients were very happy. We were very impressed with the level of service that you gave. You were very responsive to all our needs and ensured our event ran smoothly and professionally.”
In Aung San Suu Kyi’s honour, friends got together for the second annual Burma Hole in Your Pocket Charity Dinner. Their goal was to raise money for and the profile of Prospect Burma, a small charity working to continue the education of exiled Burmese in the hope that one day they can return to rebuild their country.
Over 150 guests including Harry Enfield and Antonio Carluccio gathered for the premiere of Moving to Mars, a film following two families exiled from Burma which was projected across our cinema-screen sized cove. Guests dined on food donated by The Island and the venue was lit by our partners at Halo Lighting. For more information or to support Prospect Burma please see their website.
Sunbeam Studios was proud to host such an event and we look forward to doing similar events in the future.
“The studio was recommended to us and we in turn have already done the same to one of our good friends. Having now been to three weddings there, including my own, I can without hesitation say each one was unique. We were especially happy that you take the environment seriously and try to reduce carbon footprint. We found the staff to be friendly and were really impressed with their great efforts.”
“Both the preparation and implementation of the day went so well with the help from you all, and we felt the day was a great success. Having spoken to most of our guests, speakers and the attendees, they loved the venue and found it a great place for us to have held such an interesting event. And, on such a sunny day, it was indeed a major bonus to be able to make use of the garden!”
“Thanks for everything for this party, everyone has been really complimentary about the event and how great the space was for that kind of party. I’ve had nothing but good feedback. thanks again for a great event.”
